Not Gone…

598_wpm_lowres…and not forgotten.

I’ve just been trying to perfect things worthy enough to post for you!

I received a Ninja for Christmas, and have been experimenting with it a bit:

But, I want to practice and perfect some of the things I’ve tried in it before sharing the recipes with you.

pitaI’ve also recently tried making pita bread for the first time, but once again, I want to practice and perfect the recipe a bit before sharing it with you good people.

In the meanwhile, though, I thought I’d remind you that Chinese New Year is just around the corner — in 2014, Chinese New Year will be the Year of the Horse and the 15 day celebration will kick off on 31-Jan-14.

Given my philosophy of never passing up a reason to celebrate, hubby and I always look forward to Chinese New Year. While we enjoy Chinese food all year ’round, for Chinese New Year, I often like to either tackle a new recipe or make something that I seldom make otherwise.

If, like me, you’re starting to plan out your Chinese New Year celebrations, you may find some inspiration from these posts:

  • Asian-Style Pork Ribs:
  • Crab Rangoon:
  • Egg Drop Soup:
  • Sweet and Sour Meatballs:
  • Sweet and Sour Chicken or Pork:
  • Pepper Steak:
  • Fried Rice:
  • Honeyed Apricot Orange Almond Cake:

As I find and perfect things worthy of sharing, I will post them here — I’ve not forgotten about you, so please don’t forget about me!

You are so good about celebrating with food. Chinese New Year is never on my radar, so by the time I think of it, it’s too late. But I have no excuse this year with your list of recipes.

Thanks, Wendy! Most media that discuss cooking won’t mention Chinese New Year’s ’til mid to late next week, and that’s too late for most folks to plan something. I thought, “Well, I’m trying to do my planning now, maybe I’ll just share that with folks now and maybe encourage some others to start thinking and planning for it, too!” 🙂 I’ll no doubt choose some tried and true items from my list, but i hope to try one or two new things, too.
